Overview:
The New Republic fleet represents a shift away from the Empire’s overwhelming brute force. Instead of relying on massive wedge-shaped Star Destroyers, the Republic prefers balanced warships that emphasize speed, adaptability, and versatility. They’ve got strong carriers, sturdy cruisers, and a wide mix of starfighters that make their fleets incredibly flexible.
Starfighters & Corvettes
- X-Wing Squadron
The iconic New Republic starfighter. Tough, flexible, and effective against almost everything — especially when massed. X-Wings can tangle with TIE Fighters but also pack proton torpedoes for capital ship runs. - Y-Wing Squadron
Classic heavy bombers. Slow and vulnerable without escort, but devastating against frigates, capital ships, and stations. A few Y-Wings slipping through can change an entire battle. - A-Wing Squadron
Lightning-fast interceptors built to shred TIEs and harass corvettes. They don’t do much to heavy ships, but their speed makes them perfect for chasing down bombers before they wreck your fleet. - B-Wing Squadron
The New Republic’s heavy-hitter strike craft. Slower and less maneuverable than X-Wings, but when they line up, their firepower can melt through Star Destroyers like butter. Keep them alive at all costs. - Corvette (Corellian Corvette / CR90)
The “blockade runner” everyone recognizes. Cheap, quick, and best used for anti-fighter duty. Don’t expect them to duel anything bigger than a frigate. - Corellian Gunship
A tougher, more combat-focused cousin to the CR90. Excellent at chewing through fighters and holding its own against light frigates.
Frigates
- Nebulon-B Frigate
A balanced frigate with decent anti-fighter coverage and some anti-ship firepower. Fragile when focused, but excellent for supporting larger ships. - Assault Frigate Mk I / Mk II
A versatile mid-tier ship. It doesn’t excel in any one area but makes for a reliable backbone of your fleet. Mk II versions are tougher and better armed. - Quasar Fire Carrier
A converted Imperial carrier the Republic loves to use. Weak defensively, but it vomits out starfighters. Keep it alive behind the lines and it pays for itself many times over.
Capital Ships
- MC40 Light Cruiser
A smaller Mon Calamari cruiser — cheap, flexible, and great for filling out early fleets. Not as tough as the big boys, but still reliable. - MC75 Cruiser
Sturdier than the MC40, this ship mixes good survivability with solid firepower. A step up in durability and useful well into the mid-game. - MC80 Star Cruiser (Liberty / Home One types)
The Mon Calamari workhorse. Large, tanky, and stylish. MC80s don’t pump out damage as quickly as an Imperial Star Destroyer, but they’re built to last and make excellent flagships. - MC90 Heavy Cruiser
The Republic’s answer to the Star Destroyer. Strong shields, respectable firepower, and overall one of the best ships in the fleet. It feels like the Republic’s first true “heavyweight” warship.
Super-Capital Ships
- Viscount-class Star Defender (late-era)
The Republic’s massive Mon Calamari-built answer to Imperial Super Star Destroyers. Incredible durability, loads of firepower, and more starfighters than you’ll ever need. Expensive, but when one shows up, it’s a statement piece.
