Overview:
YodenMod Legacy is a huge mod for Star Wars: Empire at War – Forces of Corruption. It adds lots of new factions, units, maps, etc., and regularly gets updates to tweak/improve things. The September 6th patch is one of those incremental updates — not a full overhaul, but with enough changes that old saves might break.
What Changed on September 6th
Here are the main new things and fixes in that patch:
- Fixing XML Files
A lot of the update is about fixing XML files. These usually affect unit behavior, spawn settings, UI text, build options, etc. These fixes are miscellaneous but important for stability and consistency. Steam Community - Faction / Unit Color and Visuals
- Laser colors are now adjusted depending on the faction. That means if you see a laser, you’ll more clearly know which side fired it. Steam Community
- Space units (fighters and hero fighters) got boosted “Projectile Fire Pulse Count”. This suggests that their weapons fire more pulses per attack, likely increasing their DPS or rate of fire. Steam Community
- New Units / Structures / Buildings
- MDU Factory: After building a Heavy Factory, you can build the MDU Factory. Then you can send it to a planet, open it, and build a Fighter Factory. Steam Community
- Extras: you can sell the Fighter Factory and rebuild it, and each time you do, it will spawn a fighter squadron. So there’s a recurring benefit for investing in these factories. Steam Community
- Also, building a Vehicle / Infantry Factory is still an option. So there are choices depending on what kind of units you want. Steam Community
- Save Compatibility Warning
Big warning: all previous save files become invalid with this update. If you had gameplay progress before this patch, those saves may not load correctly anymore. It’s a common trade-off with big mod updates that change many files. Steam Community
What It Means in Practice
- If you’re playing galactic conquest or skirmish, expect some differences in how space battles feel: fighters/hereoes will punch harder or more rapidly because of the projectile changes.
- Strategically, the MDU Factory + Fighter Factory combo adds a layering: setting up these factories gives you a sustainable way to keep producing fighter squadrons (even via selling/rebuilding). Could shift how people build up their fleets.
- Visual clarity is improved — faction-specific laser colors help reduce confusion in big fights (you won’t have to guess “did that shot come from the ally or the enemy?” as much).
- Because save files break, many players will basically have to start fresh after installing the patch. So if you have a campaign you care about, you might want to finish before updating, or accept you’ll lose progress.
